The disposed of the faulty Item method has been criticized by a few SE'ers, but It's quite effective when applied accordingly.

Your experience clearly demonstrates Its effectiveness.

Update: I contacted Amazon and they asked for a PR. I went to the precinct and they made a log of the incident. They said they couldn't do much more but a log. I'm not sure if the log would be suffecient enough for the DNA, that is yet to be determined. Will update once the popo sends me the details of the incident report.

I wonder why they'd need a PR for something that was defective and had to be disposed of. Thats really interesting. Looking forward to the updates

The defective Item that was disposed of, was to circumvent the return - which succeeded.

The PR pertains to the DNA that the OP Is double dipping.

If you don't mind, I'd love to see how you worked your way into avoiding the return with the disposed item method, like, how much did they insist, what you told them, if they required any proof of the disposal and so on

If you don't wanna post logs in here, for safety reasons, a PM would be great too, I'm trying to learn new SE methods and since I'm planning to hit a phone sooner or later, the leaky battery would be great

The person I first talked to insisted that it cannot be determined to be a leaking battery, therefore disposing it was not necessary. After calling back and dealing with another rep I simply just told them that I had disposed of the item due to health and safety concerns. The rep immediately empathized with me and assured me they would do the same. It's just simply being confident while conducting the SE.

I see, interesting, thanks
I wonder if it would work as smoothly through chat as well, I quite hate talking on the phone so all my SE is done through chat or email, but that gives the CS more time to think about their answers plus it's hard to convey a sense of urgency through those

^ It also gives you more time to think about the most appropriate response - which can make a huge difference with where your claim Is heading.

That's a nice upside as well
I guess phone talks are more suited for smooth-talkers with experience, I'll stick to chats for the time being

Communication Is Instant, and anything you've said cannot be taken back.

As such, you'd need to be very confident and accurate with your replies.

I always suggest to opt for the gateway you're comfortable and most Importantly, confident with.

It seems chat serves you well.
