Okay so we had a little talk where they asked me if anyone of in my neighborhood have picked the package for me... i waited sometimes and i replied "no, none, ecc".
Now they send me a message where they told me  to fill something like a "hand-written and signed letter of honor" where i have to write that the item is not arrived, then they will send it to the delivery company.

So if I understand well that's not a "police report" but something similar but not close. Btw, I'm going to do it,,,any advice? Just fill it and go ahed?
sure, go ahead and fill it, just a part of their protocol, similar to zalando for example

It's not a PR.

Find out whether It's an affidavit, statutory declaration, or Internal company document/release from liability form.

Okay, strange question time...someone called from courier, they told me "we have to reach the guy who was deriving that day, if he finds the package he'll take it to my home, if not someone will give me money back". And that's okay, i was thinking that was just the stage of the "internal investigation".

Then i just asked "okay, i hope you'll find it" and she replied "courier'll do anything in his capability, because if he didn't find the package he'll pay by its own".
Now is this true? Are they lying to me?
I mean I've read everywhere that they don't have to pay by its own and so i'm a bit concerned, i just don't want that a single person (and not a big company) should pay for it...
Let me know pls.

As per below, you've mentioned the carrier Is UPS
(01-13-2022, 04:33 PM)spennacchione Wrote: UPS was the courier.

The driver Is not liable for loss of goods.

Here's how It works. The shipper (company) contacts UPS and puts In a claim for the lost package, and UPS will Investigate It. If It cannot be found, UPS will approve the claim and send the payment to the shipper, who will then use all or part of those funds to refund the recipient - In this case, yourself, the social engineer.

It's strange that the courier should be pay for the item. A company like UPS can't work like that. They should have insurance set up for item going missing. If the delivery guy misses a parcel, I think it will be reprimanded, and after too many missed parcels will be kicked out. I really don't think they will keep 1,2k euros from his paycheck.

Reminds me of a tactic used by Denmark to curb fraud. It works wonderful since the cultural values are different.
It's a guilt trip tactic. Don't fall for it, maintain your word about the events and a refund will be issued in no time.

Hi guys, sorry for the long time.

Actually it was not a scam, the guy who usually bring me the package phoned for real.
He said that he had left the package at the usual site, as always...so I said something like "I'll check better" and then "oh the package is arrived but the order n. was wrong so i misunderstood etc."

I would like to be clear, I live there with my family so i don't want problem for them, but I probably if I continued with the story "the package was left unattended etc." they'd give me money.
End of the story.

Wise decision.

With future SEs, there are many methods available that don't have a direct Impact on a personal level.
