SK Hynix SE #1
Hello everyone,

So I so far have 2 SK Hynix S31 1TB SATA SSD's I had SE'd off of amazon, with another on the way. Now, for a personal project I will need a few more, and I know SK Hynix SSD's have a 5 year warranty. Been contacting them about some SSD's that arrived dead, but chat has been slow, could be the holidays, who knows. I just wanted to know if anyone has ever tried to SE them in the past, and if it worked?

What I plan to do is use the thrown out the faulty hardware method, but we haven't gotten that far via emails (seems to be the only way to contact them). So far, the all I have gotten to was the troubleshooting steps, but then again, our chats ended New Years Eve.

Just wanted to know if anyone has succeeded or not. If no one has, I'll keep you guys updated on what happens next.

Thanks

Are you planning to SE one or multiple SSDs?

multiple but on different emails and information and such. I got an email back today with 1 more step to try before they process a refund.

Understood.

In terms of SEing a number of SSDs on different accounts, there are a few methods available - missing Item, (packaging compatibility) sealed box, wrong Item received, obviously the DNA and boxing.

Been doing the DNA on all the SSD's off of Amazon, but trying to see if I can still use SK Hynix's 5 year warranty to my advantage as well.

Yes, It's always good practice to explore the company's terms and see whether a given policy will work to one's advantage.

So I got a response back and they would like the item back. It's light enough to send an empty package I believe (2.15 ounces, about 61 grams, rounding up). What do you think?

Yes, 61 grams Is light enough to send the box on Its own without adding a weight substitute.
