Looking to grab an apple pencil off somewhere. Recently done Amazon and Currys so prefer not to do again so soon. Any other UK based sites would be good for it? what methods?

The 2nd generation Apple pencil Is only around 20 grams, so the missing Item method Is the way to go.

When was the last SE performed on both?

Do your research.

If need be, perform a "practice run" (trial SE), by purchasing a very cheap Item worth only a few dollars or so and use the missing Item method. If It succeeds, your concerns have been answered.

Literally in the last week. I dont want to push my luck too much. I'll have a scout around for a few more retailers, Ideally somewhere that people have had success with before

Understood.

The missing Item method will work with just about any company - even with CCTV cameras In place. Given the box Is fully covered In cardboard, simply say the pencil was missing when you opened the box. Obviously the cameras cannot detect the Internal contents.
