SE an iPhone XS - pengx - 09-15-2018

What would be the best way to SE an IPhone XS? Say an empty box arrived?

I saw someone’s method on SEing Apple.com saying it’s DOA but I’m confused on how that works (pretty sure they’re going to want the original phone back and charge you twice when they don’t receive it? Or at least put a hold on the cc?)

I am not sure, but I read somewhere that Apple will blacklist your phone making it useless.

So maybe get it from a carrier and then get it unblacklisted via eBay third parties?

Generally speaking, the IMEI number Is placed In a pool of blacklisted numbers and upon trying to activate the phone with a given carrier, they will see It's blacklisted and decline activation.

In answer to your question, you can box the company. The phone Is extremely light (around 180 grams), so extra packaging will make up the difference In weight on consignment.

If you haven't already read this thread read it. It explains more about your IMEI getting blacklisted, as well as changing it.

Also can you clarify if your going to refund the iPhone after receiving it. Or have no intention of buying it whatsoever and are going to exploit the warranty. Thanks!

I have no idea how to exploit the warranty. I was going to say empty box on arrival

In that case, the IMEI will almost definitely get blacklisted. I found this tutorial on how to change it: https://medium.com/@nothingsecure/how-to-change-imei-number-on-any-iphone-device-100-worked-5a45200ab3f6

Also read @mothered 's suggestion in the other thread:

After doing a few Google searches, it seems that you can change your IMEI through some methods after jailbreaking the device. This should allow you to connect the phone to a carrier.

It can be changed, however the TAC (Type Allocation Code) which Is the first 8 digits of the IMEI number, Identifies the model & manufacturer of the device.

This means, If you spoof/change the IMEI number It will not be dedicated to the device and upon activation with a given carrier, It may well be rejected. That said, It will work with carriers who neglect to check the device It belongs to. As a safeguard, leave the first 8 digits, and change the remaining numbers. This way, the IMEI number will show up to It's corresponding device.

In terms of the IMEI number, that's been my argument (by way of statement) In many posts, but others beg to differ- which Is fine. We all have a right to our opinion.

A lot of articles pertaining how to change the IMEI number don't work, but upon reading your link, It may well do the job.
Thanks for sharing It.

Can you elaborate on eBay? Doesn’t a dispute mean you have to return the item?
