Cut your annoying siblings internet! - skrtja - 08-02-2018 So you have your annoying brother, sister, family member, or guest hogging the wifi which is limiting the bandwidth. You could change the wifi password but that's too much work. You could ask them to stop using the wi-fi, but they probably won't. I've used this tool to sneakily cut off guests wi-fi. If I have guests that decide to watch Paulsoaresjr walkthroughs at full volume, then I simply resort to this. Annoying children beware! After installing the program, simply open up Netcut and drag the person's device to "jail". You can use your router administrator software to figure out the ip addresses or mac addresses that correspond to that device or simply navigate to the settings on that device and figure it out. This way you won't risk disconnecting your own phone or devices. I'm using the 3.0 free version. But you can also pay for the full version. If I wasn't broke I would! arcai.com RE: Cut your annoying siblings internet! - M00N66 - 08-02-2018 Nice find. This can really be useful for other purposes too! Like for instance, IP Cameras. Another reason IP Cameras shouldn't be on your main network! This is a good idea I'll use to my advantage! RE: Cut your annoying siblings internet! - M00N66 - 08-02-2018 Yeah man. I've been abusing cameras for a very long time. I've noticed IP cameras on a different router are still connected via lan, you just need the proper IP scheme. RE: Cut your annoying siblings internet! - chesterbeatdeath - 08-02-2018 Uh... If you're already looking in the router for IP/MAC addresses, go into your wireless settings and turn on MAC filtering and add the offender to the banned list. Why the third party software? Why the third party software?Whitelist vs blacklist. It's annoying to whitelist every device rather than blacklisting a single device. Also going into your router to see the ip/mac addresses isn't needed. Just helps. RE: Cut your annoying siblings internet! - Skullmeat - 08-02-2018 All of my guests are aware of my expertise with computer networks, and the fact I can track everything they do or visit. If they abuse bandwith or do something I don't like, they get switched off. RE: Cut your annoying siblings internet! - Vultra - 08-03-2018 Thanks for sharing. For some routers like, netgear, they support mac filtering. You simply get the targets mac-address and, put it into "block" and that's it. I've personally done it before and it has worked. This ^^^ Unless they spoof their MAC address, It Is quite effective. |
