Computer Engineering vs Computer Science - Code Structure - 07-04-2018 Computer Engineering at most universities (not all, but MOSTLY ALL) is lots of electrical engineering, lots of math (calculus especially), lots of computer hardware/architecture/design, computer anatomy, and low-level software engineering. Computer Science is at its core just APPLIED MATHEMATICS. It consists of programming, courses to enhance your programming (theories, compiler theory, compilers, software engineering generalized, etc.), basic systems (networking introductions, how systems at the lowest levels work, hardware design, basic computer architecture), TONS of math (especially calculus and linear alegbra), and lots more. Mostly just programming, math, and some hardware. Summary: CS: Math, Programming, Basic Hardware CE: Math (shit tons), Electrical Engineering, Programming, SHIT TONS of hardware CS for programming, CE for low level stuff and computer design RE: Computer Engineering vs Computer Science - Vultra - 07-04-2018 Well of course. I did a bachelor degree of ICT which involved businesses, hardware, coding, designing as well data manipulation with algorithms. now, I'm doing 2 degrees. one in Cyber security which evolves mathematics and data manipulation. The other one is different for a different time (Criminology) I did find that Computer Science is a lot harder then other courses. I just found one that fitted me the best. Hard, but after you actually figure out how to do a problem, it becomes gradually fun. I already completed a computer science degree, and can help you out or tell you anything about it if you need. Cyber security sounds neat, but Criminology sounds dope as well. You wanna be a cop? RE: Computer Engineering vs Computer Science - Percent - 07-06-2018 I am currently working towards a degree in computer science. There is a ton of programming, a ton of mathematics, varying amounts of theory, a big portion in computer hardware, and courses on different low-level things. I got told that computer science is a lot harder. Would you count that as true compared to ICT, CS? Computer Science is considered a hard subject, because there are many advanced mathematical concepts that you need to learn. Many people find mathematics in general to be very hard, so this is a great reason why. You also learn many different computer programming languages, programming concepts, advanced hardware concepts, networking with applied algebra, etc., which is very difficult for people to grasp. |
