I ordered from both Adidas and Nike 1 item, does the empty box method work here? Or should I return an empty box when doing the boxing method.

Bear In mind that packages are weighed during transit so If you're referring to "the Item didn't arrive" (In the box) on receipt, you'll have a hard time justifying It.
Using the box method when returning the Item, has a better chance In succeeding.

You should've just ordered more than one item and done a partial, then returned the items you said you received for a refund. Most efficient method.
