Reverse Engineer This Output? - Little Monsters - 03-17-2018 On another forum they have a "bot" that you PM something (like a steam key) to and it creates a post in a specific thread with a line of text (let's call it the 'output key') that users can then copy and PM back to the bot and it enters you into a randomised raffle draw. Whoever wins automatically receives a new PM from the bot with the steam key that was originally provided. The source for it can be found here: https://github.com/fcostantini/resetera-gifthelper I was wondering if it would be possible to create a programme where you paste in the 'output key' and it deciphers what the original steam key is, so I can get lots of free steam games without having to win the draw. I thought it would help if I had some output keys and the corresponding steam keys so I've waited a while until I won a few (well, six) of the raffles. (all of the steam keys I post have already been redeemed). The red text is the output key and the bold text is the steam key that generated the output. RE: Reverse Engineer This Output? - DarkMuse - 03-19-2018 It's encrypted, you'd need to know the encryption and even then it might take years to decrypt... probably not the most efficient way to do whatever you're trying to do imo. Whoever wins automatically receives a new PM from the bot with the steam key that was originally provided. Okay, so I had a look at the code there, and found this: this is not the program you speak of. This one merely presents a web page after checking if a specific game is on your steam wishlist. Secondly, these "output-keys" you specify, are uuid's. That is, they aren't encrypted text, they're random unique number sequences. There isn't a way to convert these into a steam key, because they don't correlate to those. Imagine them more like going to your local DMV and pulling one of those number tabs out of the ticker. It's just a number that identifies you, and the program (or the DMV) keeps track of what numbers it has handed out. When it comes time for the drawing to happen, it just randomly selects one of those uuids that it has assigned, and that's the winner. RE: Reverse Engineer This Output? - Little Monsters - 03-19-2018 Oh okay. Not the news I was hoping for but I appreciate you guys taking a look. And yeah I realised that about the github link but never got round to editing it. Someone asked if it would be made open source and was told "not at the moment," so if it ever goes public I'll bump this thread with the code and see if anyone thinks it's worth pursuing. Thanks again. RE: Reverse Engineer This Output? - chunky - 03-19-2018 The source wouldn't help in any way since the uuid is not related to the steam key in any way. Imagine it like having a list of members where each member has his own uuid for the giveaway and one list that holds many steam keys. The giveaway then chooses a random uuid and sends a random steam key from that list to the member that's linked to the winner uuid. RE: Reverse Engineer This Output? - MrSecurity - 03-20-2018 00000000000000000000000= - RE: Reverse Engineer This Output? - chunky - 03-20-2018 So how exactly does the bot work?
Is that correct? RE: Reverse Engineer This Output? - phyrrus9 - 03-20-2018 (03-20-2018, 12:22 AM)chunky Wrote: So how exactly does the bot work? Well there is no point in trying to find out how the uuid's are generated in that case. The uuid doesn't stand for your username or account, it does represent the giveaway so even if you manage to find out how it's built how do you profit from it? I guess that's how it works? Table holding the giveaways (insertion happens between step one and two). Code: +----+-----------------------------------------+-------------------+
| id | uuid | steamkey |
+----+-----------------------------------------+-------------------+
| 1 | GB-dd23c09b-4f57-485a-ad65-f235f1196ba3 | 6ADM0-72ZKL-DNGYB |
| 2 | GB-e3f3c294-8d33-468c-8032-0ff25a59eaa5 | 0C8A9-HILTM-KQPKA |
+----+-----------------------------------------+-------------------+Every pm containing a uuid will create a new entry in that table? Code: SELECT id FROM table1 WHERE uuid = uuidSubmittedInThePM;
INSERT INTO table2 (username, giveawayid) VALUES (forumUsername, id);Code: +----+-----------+------------+
| id | username | giveawayid |
+----+-----------+------------+
| 1 | testuser | 1 |
| 2 | testuser2 | 1 |
+----+-----------+------------+forumUsername is probably the userID and both tabled probably have more than just these few colums but that's a basic representation of how it could work. How is the "choosing a winner" process triggered if I may ask? After a specific amount of time? Like x hours after the key got posted?
