History - Jim Carroll - 01-24-2018

Any history nerds in the Sinisterly community? I'm a big history nerd and would love to discuss topics/have conversations with others related to history.

I'll start with the first topic: If you could meet any historical figure, who would it be and why?

Anyone in history, then I would meet Hideki Tojo for sure.

RE: History - Shinoa - 01-24-2018

I'd meet Hesiod and ask him wtf he was thinking when he decided it would be a good idea to have Aphrodite come from someone's genitalia. Legit Cronus cut off his dads genitals and threw them in the ocean, where they foamed up and out came Aphrodite, goddess of love, beauty, and sexuality (Greek Mythology)

I'd say meeting Albert Einstein.

I would love to pick his brain and see what's going on In that beautiful mind of his.

Leonardo Da Vinci for me. The man was an exceptional genius - a mathematician, an architect, painter, engineer, inventor, and much more. It has also been said that he knew and kept many secrets, some of which inspired the movie The Da Vinci Code, which is directed by Ron Howard, and Tom Hanks being in the cast.

Would also love to meet William Shakespeare. I've always been fascinated by his work.

I don't really care about the people to be honest. I'd like to see the animals on earth and elsewhere throughout time. Probably plants and geology too.

I feel like Greek Mythology may not 100% to real figures, but hey, the concept is still interesting, since time travel isn't real either!

The list of people I'd like to meet is pretty endless, and my top person may change depending on my mood or what I'm thinking about on the day. I enjoy watching period dramas and loved history (not so much modern history - though I may have just had THE most boring teachers when we reached modern history).

Hesiod was a real person Tongue
In his poem Theogony he describes the origins and genealogies of a bunch of gods and creatures in Greek mythology

I'd say Leonardo Da Vinci would be my secondary choice.

Ron Howard Is an excellent director. He actually started his directing career whilst playing the role of Richie Cunningham on the TV show "Happy Days". If only I could allocate time to see The Da Vinci Code, I've heard very positive reviews/feedback.
