Would it be possible to get them to pay shipping by just telling them something along the lines of ''The product itself is $9,99, I don't feel it is fair to charge me the same price for shipping, for a problem which I did not cause. I loved the product so far, but I personally think it is ridiculous shipping cost the same as a new product'' ? Worth the try

Their response of "If you can chip In" (particularly It's context, seems very unprofessional) Is a first for me. Of all SEing I've performed, I have yet to come across this.

They've already agreed to a replacement, so the SE Is complete. Notice they've said "If" you can chip In? With If being the operative word. In other words, this Is a supposition and Is not Imperative you pay for shipping, hence the loophole has been Identified to avoid shipping costs. There's so many excuses that can be used- It's beyond the scope of this post.

Yup, they are very unprofessional. I haven't proceeded with the replacement as I did not want to pay for the shipping.

You can double dip by complying with their request and pay the shipping, receive the product, and then advise them (again) that the product Is not working. You vent your frustration In a calm yet adamant manner and request a refund. As such, they've just refunded your shipping payment.

Also, In the original email of your screenshot, they've requested "I'd be happy to send a replacement If you take a screen clipping of your order". How did you handle that?

I have no idea, I just ignored it and then they proceeded.

That's fair enough, I'm not surprised.

These things are easily overlooked by the target.
