Thinkpad Anniversary Edition - phaz0n - 10-01-2017
Anyone else thinking about picking one up when it is released?
I am skeptical for the following reasons:
-I have heard that the Nvidia 940MX discrete GPU is a bitch to manage on Linux, as one has to run a special command with every application to get it to utilize the dGPU.
-If I wanted an old school Thinkpad, I would just pick one up for like $200.
-The real reason I would actually buy this is for the display and modern specs combined with the old style keyboard and nipple mouse.
Otherwise, it seems pretty solid. I am not sure whether it is actually worth an upgrade from my X220, though.

I have one of the really old ones. Personally, I would just buy one of the old ones if you plan to use Linux. You're right in saying that 940MX could be a hassle.
The specs from leaks seem to be pretty good, so I'm curious what the pricetag will be. Might buy one, personally.

Depending on what the pricetag looks like I might actually get one just because they seem like a sendback to the originals, which I used a good bit.
