Finally got a gym membership - Inori - 09-17-2017 I've been really lanky and underweight for most of my life and my doctor has been on my ass about gaining weight since before I can remember, so I finally took it upon myself to get a gym membership and get a routine going. I also don't have any other outlet for physical activity during winter since my longboard is unusable, so I can keep it consistent. I'm a little nervous but glad I did it, and my first session is on Wednesday so there's no backing down at this point. RE: Finally got a gym membership - Nil - 09-17-2017 Awesome. I just renewed mine in a new area, was out for a couple of weeks. I miss my old gym but glad to be back in. RE: Finally got a gym membership - Slacker - 09-17-2017 I worked out ALOT while incarcerated (nothing to really do besides excercise, sleep, play cards and watch TV) and actually gained alot of muscle mass. The key to gaining mass is protein, stay away from creatine and other "magical chemicals" I went from 5'10" and 130 pounds to 5'10" and 170 pounds in 18 months with ALOT of peanut butter and other high protein content foods. (Only excercised and used the peanut butter trick for about 5 months. RE: Finally got a gym membership - zorrophreak - 09-18-2017 Congratulations. I take a weight training thing at school so thats helping to improve everything, however I should probably get a gym membership just to try to improve myself outside of it and during breaks. Good luck! Creatine is actually the only "magical chemical" that has been proven time and time again to work. It is a chemical found in lean red meats. Taking a 5g scoop everyday is usually estimated to improve muscle recovery by about 20%. Only downside to it is it increases your body's water retention levels so you have to drink an absurd amount of water (which you should do regardless if you're an active person). I've been working out a couple years and consider myself fairly knowledgeable in that regard so feel free to hit me up with any questions. The main thing is nutrition in all honesty. You can workout 4 hours every day for the rest of your life and not see a single pound of muscle mass unless you eat properly, because you can't out work a poor diet. For people naturally lean, it's insanely hard to gain any size and you'll greatly underestimate how many calories you have to eat to actually gain size if you have a high metabolism. It's not uncommon to have people with a naturally high metabolism having to eat in excess of 4000 calories to see any mass gain (for reference that's around 15 and 1/2 Big Macs from McDonalds or 24 1/4 average chicken breasts). Make sure you eat a lot, but eat a lot of healthy food. RE: Finally got a gym membership - Slacker - 09-18-2017 Creatine is for people who wish to bulk up in ignorant fashions actually and has been proven to actually retain more water in the muscle.tissue / fat then if you didn't take the non sense It is for people to mainly bulk up with the quickness, wing your self off and attempt to keep mass through other methods. Me and my buddies actually have worked out pretty hard and used several different chemicals (both legal and non) to get bulked. If I were to take any more chemicals to gain mass I would end up using an anabolic of some sort. Probably would end up using an anadrol cycle... Just throwing that out there. I would totally agree with the nutrition part. You can't expect results from a bad diet. Keep that protein up, but don't forget to look after the rest of your organs and body too. You want all your parts to be working as they should to keep you healthy. Water retention can be a problem, as it will affect the functioning of vital organs, so be careful of that. Check out the glycemic index of fruits etc for that if you find you do have issues with water retention (using chemicals or not). It's great that you're doing the exercise though! There are countless studies that suggest really positive effects on even your energy levels from a good dose of exercise! RE: Finally got a gym membership - Slacker - 09-18-2017 And I said fuck it and grabbed a cylce of anadrolast time I used it I went from 130 to 170 in slightly under two months and retained the weight as well after stopping my excercise routine (not I'll built either) |
