Crashplan issue - Defeat - 08-17-2017
I finally needed one of my word docs. I thought Crashplan had saved it, but nope. The file has been corrupted. Idk what to do. I read a bunch of things on it, but nothing worked. I even downloaded and used a bunch of tools to try to repair the files. Nothing worked : /

Well, I noticed the "~$tro". Could you try to rename the file (or remove that part) and open it again? Have you also tried opening it on a different platform other than Microsoft Office? Try opening with Libre Office or WPS Office (For Android. Unsure if available on iOS.)
Also, for some reason, it feels like you are trying to open the tmp file instead of the original. Could you try to see if Recuva could recover the original?

Just bear In mind that the more activity performed on your PC, the less likely of a successful recovery.
In other words (and very simply stated), a file Is not entirely deleted until another takes It's place.

I tried to open it with openoffice and it's the same issue. Also, would Recuva even work since this is a whole new pc and I just had a backup on Crashplan with the corrupt files unfortunately :/

Do you have access to the HDD that the document was originally created on?

Erm... I'm not sure tbh. When I sent the laptop in to get fixed by Asus, they replaced a bunch of other shit after wiping it clean :/

Whether the data Is recoverable, depends on the method used to wipe/delete the HDD.
If It was done with a number of passes consisting of random chars (similar to a Gutman or DoD), then you can forget about recovering your files. If It was simply formatted as per a clean Installation of Windows, the data may still be recovered.
