Did the CPU level drop when the tool completed It's tasks? If so and given It's nature (optimizing/tweaking), It's quite normal to experience higher usage to some degree. I wouldn't trust anything that modifies the kernel of your host operating system. Not unless I had the source code of the program and knew enough about the zone it effected. This is likely NOT legit, or at the very least it's just a lie about what it can do. Good point. Given the kernel Is first loaded Into memory when the OS boots and knowing that memory Is volatile, any changes that took effect will be dismissed during shutdown. But If It actually modifies the behavior of the kernel per say, then that's a cause for concern. That's exactly my point. Modern operating systems provide a safeguard for this in the form of signature checks. To modify the kernel, you would need to disable those checks, making it by definition malware. RE: Windows 10 Autofixer - automatically fix known windows 10 struggles - Mr.Kurd - 09-07-2017 Disabling update is somehow too risky. It's not the actual Windows Update feature, but more so It's "share" functionality. There's two share options In Windows 10. * PCs on my local network: This Is a form of peer-to-peer sharing within your local network, meaning the updates are downloaded on one PC and then shared with all other systems within your network. * PCs on my local network, and PCs on the Internet: This performs the same as above, however the updates will also be shared (from "your" PC) to other PCs on the net., which also consumes your bandwidth. (ridiculous to say the least). Here's an Image (from one of my lappies) of what the tool disables: Spoiler:![]() As you can see, It can simply be disabled by the end user. RE: Windows 10 Autofixer - automatically fix known windows 10 struggles - Slacker - 09-07-2017 Anyone with knowledge on the things this program does can simply do every feature this offers on Thier own manually, and it wouldn't be time consuming either. Has anyone ran this on a VM or disected it for malware or other threats? With the complaint of the computers usage peaking earlier it has had me pondering since yesterday of the true intentions are to help users or fuck them. Not necessary. Both links provided by the OP are from the official site, and the site Itself links the source code here: https://bitbucket.org/gnako/autofixer/src Unless the website has falsified It's executable download, I'd say It's safe to assume the file Is clean. |
