They have a lot more stakeholders and are more worried about the bottom line than anything else. Less personal relationships and more of a number. Makes me think twice before applying to places like Lowes, IBM... etc who have reputations of laying people off. When I come to think of It, both Holden and Ford (In car manufacturing) closed their doors In Australia, thereby laying off thousands of employees- some of which were with the company for 30+ years. I've also heard (and experienced) the same with small family-type businesses. At the end of the day, you don't know for sure who you can/can't trust. You can be working somewhere most of your life and giving almost every hour of every day into your work for the betterment of somebody else, to only be let go like you never even existed to them. Just crazy to think about. RE: Intel To Cut IoT Jobs - mothered - 07-05-2017 (07-05-2017, 06:47 AM)God Wrote: True. Job security is one of the scariest things to me. Just crazy to think about. I definitely agree. And the scariest part with some Industries, Is that they give very little forward notice of the shutdown to their workers. I heard of one company who told their employees (of the closure) one week before It happened. Those who had families and mortgages, had to take Immediate action to find employment. |
