Worst anime? - Shinoa - 07-03-2017

I've been trying to find the worst anime out there, and a couple days ago I ran into Hametsu no Mars (Mars of Destruction).
It's a single episode show made in 2005, with practically no storyline. To summarize there was a probe from mars that burned up during reentry. A few months later creatures called the "Ancients" started popping up and tormenting man kind. Past that all that really happens is a bunch of girls fight the Ancients and some guy with special DNA can wear a special suit that can kill Ancients. At the end we find out from an Ancient that looks different from the rest that what we thought were martians are humans and what we thought were humans are martians. Just in case you have any questions about the plot, nothing is ever explained so there likely isn't an answer.

Aside from the terrible plot with more plot holes than swiss cheese, the audio sounds like it was recorded on a potato, the fight scenes are horrifyingly bad, all the female characters look exactly the same except with different hair styles and slightly different eyes, there is zero character development, hell we only know the name of one character, and the art was just as good as your average 1980 show. Also for some reason who ever was making this thing decided it would be a good idea for the OST to be Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata mvt1.

Despite all that I am still looking for the worst show out there, so if you know of any shows worse than this please let me know Biggrin

Probably not quite as bad: Elfen Lied. I wouldn't say it's awful, but I feel that there was a lot left to be done. The character development was kinda sloppy and the design was a little lazy, since all the Diclonii were essentially identical, which makes sense for clones, but not when you give them individuality.

Boku no pico hands down. Those who have seen it know why.

Haven't seen Elfen Lied, I do plan to eventually though. Going off of what you said and many others I probably shouldn't have high expectations.

I wasn't exactly thinking of hentai when I wrote this, but even then Boku no Pico is better. The idea behind the plot may disgust many people, but the quality of the show was still better overall tbh

Probably Naruto. It got pretty shitty before I stopped watching it.

School Days is damn close to the worst title I've ever seen alongside just one of the worst VNs I've attempted to play through with it's empty everything and shock factor or whatever just to try to keep you awake, but nah that award goes to Tenkuu Danzai Skelter+Heaven. At work we do this bit where we watch random movies ranging from classics to random indie stuff and hentai discs for fun after the shop closes down, and after someone tricked us into watching this short 20-minute bit none of us were happy.

TDS+H or whatever you want to call it is another Idea Factory title on a similar level to Mars of Destruction which shows you how good of a company they are. The major thing I have to complain about is the plot - it's not there! What they wanted to say is something along the lines of: "This random thing appears in the middle of Tokyo, and this agency is sent out to do something about it but then this one dude Otsuya has feelings for a girl in the squad which could mean the whole mission fails" but what they really got across was "Abso-friggin'-loutely nothing happens, and then the ending makes all of the nothing that just happened mean nothing."

As if that wasn't bad enough, they really decided to hire top-notch crew of people to waste the time of anyone who watches. The 2D scenes have the sound synced to lips as well as an old '20s B&W film that has title cards to say whatever was said after someone says something, and the characters move like slugs or just look bad. Add in some really poorly made CG that's on the levels of Foodfight, super forgettable characters, and bam you've got it down.

This was a damn waste of my 20 minutes, to me it deserves every bad rating it gets in my mind, and not even copious amounts of drugs could make this one entertaining to me

I laughed when this happened tbh. Only way they could have made it better is by having end Elliot Rodgers style.

Oddly I really didn't like the show Air.
I loved Clannad and I liked Kanon. But air was... eh.

Is this a bad time to say it's one of my favourite shows? Although, despite liking it so much, what you've said isn't wrong. The character designs were sketchy and the gore was some of the strangest representations of gore I have ever seen. There was a lot I was left wanting from that show, but somehow it hooked me.
It's a little messed up for those of you who aren't usually into weird, creepy and sometimes downright strange shows. Unfortunately for me, that's the kind of shit I like!
