If a company like Logitech asks for a picture with a note. Its easier to trick them if you write a note in real life, take a picture in lighting similar to a picture you already found with a s/n, then just easily move it in and edit it a bit. Usually looks more realistic and requires less effort.

That's true, but you have to be sure that the S/N is actually an existing number. Some companies keep records of the location of the item (or at least the country). This might give issues when you have a serial number from the USA but order something in Europe.
Also it should be properly edited, not copy-pasted in MS-PAINT, cause they WILL notice that!

I've lost count as to how many people have made a poor attempt at editing via MS Paint.
