Pen Testing - zenTHEgreat - 03-13-2017 I am new to Pen-Testing and all types of Pen-testing software. Which OS do you guys prefer when pen-testing? what software or programs do you guys recommend using? If you know of any starter guide or any basics in regards to it, it would be greatly appreciated thanks. Pen Testing - Tubbs13 - 03-13-2017 Id look into either Kali Linux or Parrot Sec. To learn how to use the programs id suggest reading the man pages for each tool. Doesn't hurt to google it either RE: Pen Testing - zenTHEgreat - 03-13-2017 (03-13-2017, 09:53 PM)Tubbs13 Wrote: Id look into either Kali Linux or Parrot Sec. I appreciate the info RE: Pen Testing - roger_smith - 03-14-2017 Kali is pretty much the de facto distro for pen testing. However, the distro does not make the pentester. I perform almost everything manually and whilst It can tend to be a lot more difficult at times, the rewards of self-satisfaction Is priceless. RE: Pen Testing - Skullmeat - 03-15-2017 It's how you use the tools you have. You could have the best tools in the world, but they are useless if you don't know how to use them. If users cannot simply use a tool via It's options, features and basic set of commands, then they should look for another hobby. RE: Pen Testing - Mr.Kurd - 03-15-2017 I use Kali Linux system..
RE: Pen Testing - Bish0pQ - 03-15-2017 Well I guess if you want to have all tools pre-installed (90% of them you won't even use probably) you should go for ParrotOS or Kali Linux. If you're more interested in an OS with the tools you choose, you should go for Arch or something. It all depends on what you like basically. Also keep in mind what Roger said. Pentesting is more than just choosing the right OS. RE: Pen Testing - zenTHEgreat - 03-15-2017 Thanks guys this is all great information |
