Mine is usually somewhere between 3 and 3.5 Mbps. Nothing special.
If my name was on the bill, I'd consider getting XFinity Business. Heard it's pretty fast.

Download speed largely depends on how many people are seeding (and where those seeders are) and leeching the torrent any any given time, but throughput and bandwidth are definitely factors. On torrents with a good ratio, I usually get around 1.5 MbPS because my internet kinda sucks.

Yeah, I'm talking on a decent or average ratio. Somewhere between 2 and 3 if average.

Torrent that had just been made, mainly seed boxes on it. I saw it hit 12.something MB at a few points.
My upload maxes at about 600 KB, averages 500 KB

Max. 2.5 Mbps at home, when downloading torrents, which isn't good. The faculty I'm attending has got a strong ~13 Mbps, when downloading torrents.

Old thread, but I actually figured something out.
Your internet's download speed is actually your uTorrent speed times 8. For example, I have Xfinity's 25 over 5 plan, so if my average is 3.1mb/s (3.1 MegaBYTES not BITS) then my internet speed is roughly 24.8mbps (Speedtest suggests 30mbps/6mbps)
Let's say you get an expensive ass 1gig FiOS Connection. That would be 1024mbps / 8 = 128MB/s on uTorrent. Seems dumb I know, but I found it pretty interesting.

My Internet connection Isn't the best, In fact, It's quite poor by today's standards.
I average around 700-800 KB/s. Aside from what's mentioned above, limiting the upload speed also helps with achieving a better download speed.

I've actually put a lot of applications in for Xfinity because there's a ton of perks. First of all $16 an hour. That's enough to sell the position by my standards but oh wait there's more. FREE CABLE AND INTERNET FOR EMPLOYEES!!! AND!!! THEY UPGRADE MY SPEED AND CABLE TO TOP TIER THAT MEANS 200MBPS AND FREE HBO AND SHOWTIME AND ALL THAT SHIT!!!

I get around 5-10MBps downloading Debian for Mac with Transmission, took about 40 seconds, the file is 307KB.
I started around 5MBps downloading Debian XFCE live, which is 1.9GB, but then the speed quickly dropped below 100KBps. I think my ISP dislikes Debian.
NOTE: The upload speed was not limited. I'm fine with seeding for Debian and other good projects.
