What Linux Distro Should I Use? - Skullmeat - 01-14-2017
So I want to dual boot Windows and Linux. I'm really leaning toward Debian or Arch, but I'm open to ideas. I want something that Is easy to use, but can be customized.

I recommend Debian, because it's easy to use and it's stable.
Arch is not stable, you'll lose a lot of time fixing stuff... Trust me I've been there, the package manager is shit and some times it overwrites files that should not be over written and that results in some programs not working or the OS not even booting up. You'll spend a lot of time fixing shit...
About customization:
If you want to customize how your system looks you should look into desktop environments and select the one you are the most comfortable in.
There are a shit load of desktop environments like Plasma, KDE, Gnome, Unit, etc.
The one I use is Gnome3, because it's easy to use and has loads of features, but you should look at some of them and select one that suits you.
Next you may want to look for themes and window managers for your desktop environment.
Just use google and you'll find something that looks cool. I don't use a theme myself so I can't recommend anything...
As for window managers there are a shit load of them also.
i3 is the one that is the most customizeble, there isn't anything you can't do in i3
OpenBox is more stable and it's extremely lightweight, it's easy to edit, but the default configuration is lacking basic features, when you start OpenBox for the first time, you'll see absolutely nothing.
Bottom line is, if you want something easy to setup and use, install Debian with Gnome, you don't need a theme and a WM to make it look sexy.
But if you want to make it look even sexier you can look into themes and WMs.

I'd recommend Debian. SL has used it for 4 years and I used it for 2 years on my main rig. I already told you that, though.

I agree with the others. Go with Debian and a good DE like Mate or Xfce. Check out DistroWatch for the latest distributions/builds.

MXLinux seems to be becoming a hit, it's based of debian. Heard somewhere it is the "Ubuntu killer"

No doubt Xfce is a good DE. I recently have taking a liking to Mate though. It's all about preference.

Really depends what you want. If you want alot more customization I'd roll with Arch, and if i wasn't very experienced i'd roll with something that runs off of arch. I'd probably hop into a DE at first, probably Gnome or XFCE, and then once i'm more comfortable using Arch i'd uninstall it and use i3 or something like that.
I say Arch rather than Debian for customization because arch is rolling release. This doesn't have anything explicitly to do with customization, but it means that if you're using some packages they will be updated more frequently which means you can use their features sooner (some of those features may be eye candy releated) whereas with debian you have to adhere to their release cycle
Debian or maybe even Ubuntu is the distro to use if you want stability, though

Some distros I've wanted to try/look at, and look okay:
-Elementary OS
-openSUSE
Some distros I've tried and I think are pretty great
-Arch Linux
-Gentoo Linux
-Antergos
-Arch
-Fedora
As for Debian, I had quite a few issues with Nvidia + Debian testing repo (not sid because I like to like dangerously but not that dangerously), so be careful of that if you're gonna do that.

Debian works, mostly. The problem is my usb wifi card refuses to connect. It shows the SSIDs, but when I try to connect to one it sits at the state "connecting" forever and wont do anything. It's worth noting that the Acess point has had issues on windows as well.
