Backing up - Esoterith - 01-14-2017
OK, so I'm currently attempting to fix up my pc. Get Linux and Windows back on it, we'll when I do so I want 2-3 backup locations. Any suggestions?

External hard drives are pretty cheap nowadays.
Personally I back up to DVD because I have a ton of them, but I'd also invest in some cloud storage as well. Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive. If you have Google Apps through a school or university, chances are you have unlimited Google Drive space. Great for use, just encrypt first.

For the security of your sensitive data and credentials, I strongly suggest to backup everything locally. I trust a physical location (example external HDDs), than cloud storage. For example, look what happened with MegaUpload many years ago. I have 4 HDDs and perform daily Incremental backups (backs up only data changes on a day-by-day basis).
Some day 4 HDDs Is an overkill but In the event of failure, hard disks can be replaced, loss of data (In It's absolute entirety) cannot.

I'm with @mothered on this one. An external HDD/SSD will be your best bet. I personally don't trust cloud storage for numerous reasons.

Just make sure to backup to more than one location.
If you only have one local backup device, resort to cloud as well (until you can afford HDDs). I'm posting this from experience- all In all, I've had 3 hard disks fail on me (different occasions) and I was glad I took the extra step to backup to more than just a single storage device.

So I'm back on linux, finally.
So I'm thinking
1) Local Server
2) Encrypt ZIP backups and store on Drive, OneDrive.

I would highly recommend using an external SSD or HDD, I really dont like the idea of uploading your shit to a database that can do whatever they want with, even if its encrypted.

Like everyone is saying, hdds are cheap af. Go on amazon and look for the Seagate 5tb external desktop drive or whatever its called. It's only like $125 for all that room. I would save computer images on there as well as file histories. If you have an android phone and a debit card use tap-to-pay and work your way to platinum membership. You earn points and I just earned $100 worth of samsung giftcards and have purchased a few odds and ends including a 64gb usb. I would also put a system image on there. Lastly I would do a cloud storage for anything else. Windows allows for specific file location backups as well where I point important locations like program files, school work, programs, etc.

For the time being and as a secondary backup (cloud), It will suffice.
Due to the nature of data I have, I cannot risk storing It any place other than my local drives. Even In It's encrypted state, I can't afford to risk It. Basically, I try and leave nothing to chance. Locally (on my HDDs), I know where It Is and where It's kept at all times.
"You can't catch what you can't see". I think that's self-explanatory and should be applied to all methods of anonymization.
