Archlinux Recommendations - ProfessorChill - 09-27-2016

Hey guys, I just installed archlinux on a VM with Gnome3 and have themes and steam and pretty much all I can think of.
I have:
Thunderbird,
Firefox,
Steam

I was thinking of using this VM for pen testing or learning it, any recommendations for books or learning material or even packages I should get with Archlinux to begin learning all of the majestic stuff?
I'm sure you all know that I would pretty much only pen test my own things since I like my server to be secure Smile

You know what? I'm gonna go install arch in a VM myself. I'm bored, so It will give me something to do. I'll post about anything cool I do with it, since I have a few ideas.

Try to use as less as possible the ui and work with terminal (imho, thats what I did). Get confident with it, learn to use tools. If you search for "pentest phases" on the internet you'll undestand how everything works and discover tools. The rest will come by himself.

I do mainly use the terminal actually, heck I even navigate folders with it. I just have the GUI for things like my email, steam, when I want to googal something and that's because I hate CLI Browsers.
So yeah, I am doing that and you are right, it has helped me learn quite a lot about the linux world Smile

Depends on what you want to do. First thing I would do is go ahead and install yaourt or some kind of helper to grab packages from the AUR, and head to gnome look and find a few good icon themes and gtk themes.

This may or may not be of benefit to you.

I found It whilst navigating around the net: https://suprafortix.wordpress.com/2014/11/27/arch-linux-penetration-testing-platform/
