I've heard that it's extremely difficult to refund on .uk. .com is also slowly getting harder.

Yes they actually want you to file a Police Report on every refund you try unless you use some really unseen method. This way they separate legit customers and little kids who try to refund. If you really didnt receive the product you probably will file the police report.
Damn they asked a few of my friends for a police report for a order of 20 pounds...

Probably your friends have never ordered any products from amazon before they started to SE, i think that if you have a old account with some legit purchases, they wouldn't ask you for a police report.
