What game engine do you like most? - Bish0pQ - 05-22-2016 Hi everyone, Recently I started to learn the crytek engine (the game engine of crysis), and I thought it was actually pretty easy and nice to learn. My questions to all of you, has someone of you already tried a game engine or not? If you have used a game engine before, what was nice about it? To the people who have never used a game engine before, what do you think is the most beautiful game engine, with the best graphics and physics? For example, I like the Unreal 4 Engine because the graphics are absolutely beautiful, but I don't really like it to code in because it's very very complicated. There are so many options, it would take months to learn everything that's in there. The crytek engine is way easier in learning but the graphics are a bit worse. So what do you guys think? RE: What game engine do you like most? - Losi - 05-23-2016 I'd have to say Source for the insane modability. Titanfall runs a modded Source Engine. Holy crap! The ability of the engine is damn near infinite. RE: What game engine do you like most? - insidious - 05-24-2016 (05-23-2016, 05:35 AM)Losi Wrote: I'd have to say Source for the insane modability. I have to say that Source is also, definitely, my favorite. Zombie Mod in CSS and Garry's mod are life and I've had tons of great memories on those games. It's just an overall smooth and very polished engine, everything you'd expect from a company like Valve + it has great extendability, (titanfall being an example of that). RE: What game engine do you like most? - BurritoBeans - 05-24-2016 Gonna be a third for Source. Tons of games and mods that work on it, it's fairly simple to work with as long as you take a little bit of time to learn the ropes, and it's smooth stuff. UE4 is also kinda nice but I haven't messed with it much so I don't have too much of an impression. RE: What game engine do you like most? - Dozy Van - 05-24-2016 If you are new to game Dev the https://unity3d.com/ game engine is very beggier friendly. You program your scrips in C# and this is comeing from someone who sucks at programming/scripting, C# is really easy to do very complex stuff in. |
