People Lying in a Relationship - Silence - 05-05-2016 Here's the backstory Okay, so my two friends (both gaming pals) got together a few months back. So he has been saying he's about 20-21, we all believe him since it kind of fits the fact that he works and stuff. They date, she's 20, they do stuff (this is all online. Nothing happened in person). She started getting worried about stuff, since he mentioned his friends cheated on their girlfriends and he was the 'lookout' at a party, then asked for his number since she was debating deleting kik cause of other things. He didn't want to give it to her, until she had to practically guilt it out of him. Note they were in a relationship for months at this point. Skip to this month So, they both take a break as things got stressful. He told her that his name was changed due to him being adopted and not having any real family. So she got curious, searched his real name and found his Facebook. He told her that he was at a wedding, turns out that a school in his local area was having prom that night. There's a picture of him and two friends, all having prom dates. She got heartbroken as this happened while they were dating. She searched his phone number, turns out it was owned by someone with the same last name as his real name, which is odd since he doesn't have family. She also started to piece other things that she didn't pay much heed to. So, he lied about his age, he's only in high school. She could get into legal trouble with this if he decides to ever try to blackmail her or something with all the stuff they did. I am absolutely pissed and disappointed in this guy, as I thought of him as a brother. Turns out, he's been lying about so much. So, what do you guys think about people lying in a relationship. RE: People Lying in a Relationship - Queen - 05-05-2016 Why online dating is dangerous/bad. RE: People Lying in a Relationship - Hero - 05-05-2016 Absolutely mindblowing. I think in a relationship things need to be told to each other, however, not everything. If @Pirate dates with @Silence but @Silence finds @Skullmeat horny, that doesn't mean he's falling for him/her. But in this case, of course, that should be told. You can't lie about your age in a relationship. She would eventually find out on his passport. But then again you don't hear about all of the good ones, you only hear about the ones that have caused an incident and going off topic here but I'm about to kill this substitute teacher. Um, yeah. But I'm currently dating someone online, they're coming down here this summer. It's not all bad. RE: People Lying in a Relationship - Oni - 05-05-2016 I mean, she should have been skeptical in the first place. (05-05-2016, 07:39 PM)Queen Wrote: Why online dating is dangerous/bad. Why being gullible is dangerous/bad. @Jiggly and I met online and we've been dating almost 3 years (and she's moving here in a few months). I would have questioned any of the aforementioned oddities. But then she started to trust him after a while of him helping her through things. Just makes me mad cause it seems he took advantage of that. I've known a man for 2 years, I liked him and he liked me back and it's been going on for 8 months, then, he tells me that he does it to get nudes from me, which he's never got. I'm not saying it's always bad though. RE: People Lying in a Relationship - Pirate - 05-05-2016 I've been cheated on only once but I've dated like 10 girls. Cheating does suck. RE: People Lying in a Relationship - Inori - 05-05-2016 Online dating is very hit or miss. Sometimes someone has the classic, almost internet troll mentality of "it's online. I can lie about anything and get away with it." It can hurt, obviously, but it's also a practical lesson on healthy amounts of skepticism. This said, sometimes it turns out pretty well.
