Should cellphones be allowed in/on school grounds? - Astronomia - 12-30-2015 I have been using cellphones for calling, texting, and overall anything nowadays as phones are becoming a big thing needed in society. I take my phone every where I go, even to school. Most of the time I don't even use my phone, as it always just stays in my pocket. Then I wonder...do we really need cellphones on school grounds? I think cellphones shouldn't be allowed on school grounds because they distract overall more students from their lessons of learning. Some studies have shown that students could text each other answers, send inappropriate images or post them, and look up answers using their phones. It disturbs the nature of the classroom, as well as destroy the work they had been given to. It has been brought around and about to many schools debating this topic, so I'm sharing it here to see your opinions. But furthermore, it has said that cellphones can be used to call their parents if something happens, like of course, a fire alarm goes off and everyonelse evacuates the building and they can inform their parents. However, cellphones are not in this case, because most likely the parent was informed already that a fire alarm had happened from the administrators. That is just one of my reasons why. What are your opinions on cellphones during school? Do you support the use of cellphones or not? RE: Should cellphones be allowed in/on school grounds? - Para - 12-30-2015 I think a phone is essential for school. If it's a major issue teachers could take phones at the beginning of a lesson. RE: Should cellphones be allowed in/on school grounds? - Jebusfathead - 12-30-2015 I'm allowed them at college, and it's so much better, if people want to mess up their own education let them. RE: Should cellphones be allowed in/on school grounds? - Jasper - 12-30-2015 Basically what Para said, maybe on a break phones should be allowed. Otherwise on lessons, the teacher could take the phones beginning of a lesson so it doesn't distract others, or yourself. You sound like one of my teachers, she has a box called the distraction box where you have to put your phone if you use it, or she knows you are going to use it. I'd ask if we was supposed to actually do the psychology experiment, or we still planning out the hypothesis and stuff in the booklet?
