Why so great: Syntax color coding (great for programming/scripting). Main reason I use sublime is that it's multi-platform (I use it on various Linux distros, Mac OS X, and Windows)

I've been dealing with Ashampoo products for many years to date, and this would have to be one of my favorites.
The beauty of this Is It's user-friendliness, and the fact that It's License Is "freeware" (and not Ad-Supported), hence no nasty surprises during the Installation process.

Sublime Text is pretty mainstream, man.
Anyways, some cool stuff is EmEditor Pro for editing very large files. My current code editor as of today is Visual Studio Code, I like it quite a bit and it's free to use.

Sublime is so mainstream Hipsters stopped using it, seriously.
Other than sublime, though, there are shittons of great shit out there. NCMPCPP has my vote, for instance. Best music player I have ever had and it's totally CLI
Also, Qutebrowser which is a browser made totally from python and uses Vim bindings is amazing. highly recommend it. I did some insignificant OSS work on it and use it time to time. It lacks some of the functionality and customizability options of more mainstream browsers like Firefox or Chrome, though, so it's a bit difficult to use as a daily driver. But it's pretty lightweight and I use it on my Pi as a main

Steam idle master. Basically if you have a shit ton of games and don't play them all, this program idles the games (without installing them) and gives you the cards from it.
You can idle it with 100% safety of bans.

I've been using these 3 for years to date.
Particularly Microsoft Office, beginning with Office 95 from back In the days of when the Installation process was via 25 floppy disks. By memory, It literally took close to 90 minutes to Install on my Pentium 100.
