Bol.com weird refund - Bish0pQ - 04-12-2016 So a pretty weird thing happened today. I had ordered a GTX 660 OC on the website www.bol.com (big internetsite) but I purchased it not directly from them but from a reseller named Rebuy. When I tried this card, it didn't work properly, so after a lot of hours trying to find the problem, I gave up and asked for a refund. They said it was no problem, and they would give me a refund and I had to send the item back to them. Weird thing is however, I'm pretty slow in doing things like bringing the package to the post office, so I didn't bring it to the post office yet. Now today I got an e-mail saying "Thank you for returning your product, you will get your refund within 5 days." Now I look on my bank account and they fully refunded the graphics card! I didn't even brought it to the post office and they just give a refund! Now that's what I call a company to SE. What do you think about this, an administration error, or something else? and would I (if they found it) need to pay it back? Or is it legal to keep the money because they deposited the money already? *NOTE* Rebuy is a third-party company that sells through bol.com, I don't think that it actually is part of the bol.com company. RE: Bol.com weird refund - Oni - 04-15-2016 Moving this to the Social Engineering section, since that seems to be relevant to this topic. My bad, I wasn't sure because I had no intension to SE in the first place. I just figured it's better than Lounge. RE: Bol.com weird refund - mothered - 04-16-2016 Without researching the company as a whole, It's not possible to say how easy It Is to SE. This was possibly an "accounts" error, that could've been due to so many reasons. A computer glitch, a new employee to the accounts department or simply hitting the Enter key (so to speak) on the Incorrect customer. Without being there, who knows what happened. Sure, every company has a "human vulnerability" to some magnitude and CAN be SE'd If the research, preparation (perhaps pretexting) and strategies have been planned and formulated correctly. On the upside for you, It's great that you received a free product. That said, be aware that some companies pickup on their billing errors (example, balancing the books at the end of the month), so just keep this In mind. RE: Bol.com weird refund - Cressi - 04-20-2016 This feels very up-to-date with the ongoing SE skill discussion Might be an error, might be good-will. Either way; I'd keep it and tell them you mailed it if they ever come to ask ^^
