PGP Section Support - zendr0id - 04-02-2016

I think a good idea for privacy purposes is showing a users public PGP key in their profile. This way one can send truly private messages.

RE: PGP Section Support - meow - 04-02-2016

...or you could just put it in your signature?

You evidently don't know very much about PGP if you think you'd need all of that in your signature. Also, why are you using an outdated version of GnuPG?

I do know a decent amount about pgp, and the software I used to create and manage my keys defaulted to the gpg rather than gpg2 binary. They both support OpenPGP so they are compatible either way.

Yeah, I could link to my key or people could search a keyserver, etc. I just think it is more convenient to have a section for that, although I am quite willing to accept another standardized alternative for this site.

>what is a key fingerprint

Look at my signature.

Firstly, @meow makes valid points. Secondly, https://keybase.io exists? Lastly, if you're that worried about PMs getting leaked, I'd suggest using a secure IRC or something.

For real, if you send sensitive information over pm on a forum you don't belong here.

As a whole, yes I agree.

Asymmetric-key encryption good enough? Public key over a PM, and Private key via another secure channel thereafter.

Seems easier to just put your Keybase in your signature. Or, if you don't trust Keybase, you can just put a fingerprint.
