Routing traffic on PC - snoopy - 02-04-2016
After some help really from all you network savvy members.
Basically, my problem is I like to game and I like to download stuff, however my setup at home is a bit strange. I've got a powerline adapter connect to my ethernet port and a wifi adapter connected to my wifi.
Now if I game using the wifi the latency fluctuates, but on the powerline it is fine. But if I want to download I get better speeds on my wifi rather than my powerline.
So is it possible to route traffic based on port down a particular interface?
I've had a Google about and the only thing I can find is routing which from what I can tell is IP based.
I'm using Windows 10.

Well, I had a simular question a few days ago, I personally think it is possible but I have no idea how.
What I do know is that there are some programs like "speedify" that combines 2 different types of connection into 1 connection, but anyway I'm not sure if that will solve your problem.

Thanks for the reply, I'll take a look at speedify, but I don't think that will ultimately solve the issue because if the gaming traffic goes over the wifi it will still cause latency issues ( I think ).

Dude, just swap out cards/whatever. if thats possible. Otherwise, I'll look into software solutions today

Or if you know a little bit of coding you could make a program that can switch between the two easily. Like when you need your powerline you choose powerline and otherwise Wifi.

I would ultimately prefer it if I didn't have to switch them at all..

Speedify would help, but the best option is to set your machine as priority in the router, if it has that option.
