Why is fanservice so Devisive? - Skullmeat - 11-18-2015 I'll admit, I'm a simple man with simple tastes. Fanservice doesn't bother me. I got into a bit of a fight over Freezing, a fanservice heavy, but surprisingly deep anime. The person I was with began shouting, and saying that its basically porn. It made me wonder, what is it about fan service that causes such strong reactions? Do you guys mind fanservice? Why? RE: Why is fanservice so Devisive? - Oni - 11-18-2015 Fan service (or the idea of "sex sells") is pretty omnipresent in all forms of media (even advertising). It sometimes adds humor to the show or lightens the mood. Once it gets to the point the main character is unclad/suggestive/compromised half the time, I start finding it distasteful. Anime and soft porn aren't the same thing, so there has to be some sort of a distinguishing boundary. |
