Java or Python - Drugs - 11-13-2015 So I've been learning Java lately and I've been so undecisitive about should I go along with coding in Java or Python? The two languages really appeal to me more than any other language. I wasted about 3 months on learning a language I ended up hating (JavaScript). I like Java because I work in GM so it is the same thing as GML basically. I think it's very popular and great to make apps as well as webapps. People say Java is boring. Python looks sleek and is simple. It's quite flexible and great for coding games as well. Though it's not used in GM. So if you could give me your opinions, I'd be happy. RE: Java or Python - Ion - 11-13-2015 In my opinion, I'm not too fond of Java because it's dependent on a virtual machine and too high level. Also, some things in Java (such as "float f = 0.5;" being invalid without the 'F') I find stupid. I'd also rather have machine code generated rather than bytecode. I can't give you my opinion on Python (I have never used it before). If those are the reasons you dislike Java, you won't like Python either. RE: Java or Python - Pirate - 11-14-2015 Python when I was a beginner. But Java is better now. RE: Java or Python - Oni - 11-14-2015 I dislike Java, but you're likely to do more using Java than Python. RE: Java or Python - Nil - 11-19-2015 Learn both. Java is great to know in the current tech industry. I personally believe Python has a bright future and it's very versatile and fun to use. RE: Java or Python - m0dem - 11-21-2015 For learning, I'd say, Python is fun, and Java is more serious. I have used both languages, and my advice is to ask yourself this question: "What will keep me interested in learning?" For me, it was making games, so I used https://inventwithpython.com/ Have fun, don't burn out, but keep going!
RE: Java or Python - arcanstone - 11-24-2015 bruh python is easier and i'm a registered noob so that's what I use it's a pretty high level lang tho. RE: Java or Python - error666 - 12-06-2015 I think java. Java is first in TIOBE Index. RE: Java or Python - m0dem - 12-07-2015 (12-06-2015, 09:33 PM)error666 Wrote: I think java.
