AMD vs. Intel? - CPU - 10-15-2015
If I were to ever buy or build my own computer system, would you guys recommend that I purchase an AMD CPU or Intel CPU? I'm not on a budget, and plan to buy a new computer soon. What are the positives and negatives comparing the two?

If you aren't broke/on a budget then get Intel. If you are poor/broke/on a budget then get AMD. It's as simple as that.

Intel is better for mainly media creation purposes (rendering, editing, etc) or any program that would benefit from having stronger cores, rather than more cores less power, AMD is better if you're looking for pure price:performance. That's it. Never once in that thread did I say Intel is "better for normal people doing normal things". Anyone can make a broad statement like that. What you said is pretty much the equivalent of someone saying dogs are better than cats.
Also I -5 if someone posts like they have down syndrome, I don't -5 if someone is trying to make an argument, whether it is a bad argument or not.

Well there is a difference and it depends on what you want to do with it. If you want to render/ run heavy tasks, I would suggest an intel. However if you are someone who wants to do a lot of things at the same time (Chrome, Gaming, Spotify, sinister.ly, chat app, etc. all at once) I would recommend an AMD because they have 8 cores.
I don't know what your exact build needs to be like but I suggest you also look at the graphics card. If you don't really game on the PC and you buy an i7 processor than you don't need to buy a graphics card cause Intel HD 4000+ are good enough to play some games.
Overall, I always use intel, don't ask me why, I don't know. I have always wanted to create a HTPC with an AMD build, but never started it. If you go for an AMD let me know if it was easy to configure. Would be interested in that.

This shouldn't even be a question. As a 8350 owner I kind of regret not going the intel route since the 8350 at stock clock is literally beat by mid-range i5s **and** if I want to upgrade I either have to buy a motherboard that supports whatever intels new socket is or take a risk on buying Zen and still have to upgrade my mobo to one that supports AM69 or whatever they'll call it.

Since you're not on a budget, go for an Intel. It's the better option, and here are my personal negatives and positives comparing them both:
