Monetizing links - XFL - 09-08-2015
New to the board and read the rules in its entirety and I just have a few questions. Figured I'd post it here because I honestly cannot find "the right section" to post these questions in. Without further due;
Q: If I post a download link to something, what is the policy on posting a link that is being used as a method allowing the user (me) to gain money from the ads being displayed?
tl;dr is adfly-ing links allowed here? As long as I'm not being a complete asshat about it?

Q: Is referring to other 3rd party forums allowed as long as I'm not advertising them? ie: Hackforums, leakforums, overclock and so on

I've seen Adfly links in the past, so I'd reckon you're allowed to use them in moderation. I would, though, provide a direct link as well for the sake of not coming off too greedy
As for the forums, I'd probably avoid linking to any other forums, as it can be thought of as advertising ^^

This. Although, I think you can link to other forums as long as they are not a competing forum, i.e. official forum of a product/software just not hacking, security, general discussion related forums. Just to be safe thought, just avoid linking them, unless you really have too.

You simply get invited, or apply in the recruitment thread. Look for it in the groups section.

We refer to most other forums in their acronym form. IE: HF, LF, etc.
I would assume the rules for monetized links would be the same as referral links. You can post them, just provide a direct link, also.

There is a coding challenge thread where the winner gets an invite to Syntax, that's your best route.
