[Torrents] Seedboxes - HentaiOuji - 05-11-2015

Greetings citizens of sinisterly, I''d like to ask you all about bitorrent(all clients). How much do you get when you download torrents?. Do you play with the settings to get the maximum upload/download speeds?. Have you ever heard of seedboxes? what do you think they do?

If you are familiar with seedboxes and used them or have someone you know use them:
  • What Seedbox do you/they use

  • Do you recommend Using one?

  • What seedbox [service] do you prefer?

I get around 50 kb/s when I download something with probably 6000+ seeders.

I put EVERYTHING through my VPN. I really do not trust ISPs at all. So I generaly get about 2.5MB/s down. I don't seed because my up speed couldnt cope with it.

Generaly, there isn't anything to play with. I'm trying out ubuntu right now, looking at trannsmission you can remove global limits, set the max amount of peers and other such stuff. But idk how much of a real difference that would make.

I do not see the point of seed boxes, could some one help explain them to me?

@Zephyr I recently was reading about those seedboxes. However, I'm not sure if I got the right definition;

SeedBox:

Is a virtualpc/ server that let's you download torrents at high speeds through using a web application or connecting to certain trackers. Moreover, they use SFTP/FTP to send you the downloaded file. One more thing!, these will download your torrents fast however the bottleneck is in your internet download speed. If you got a slow internet speed, you might have to wait for some time to download it.

P.S : Was just searching for providers and found that some of them use secure file transfer protocol/ vpns when sending you the file.

@ねこまっしぐら Wow, thats unfortunate Maybe your ISP/Internet service bundle/router are bottlenecking the speed. With 6000+ seeds i can get myself a 2.5 mbps MAX!

When I can (aka when I have unlimited internet) I seed. Being a member on KAT, the more I seed, the higher in the priority queue I am, meaning faster client requests and initiation times. I can usually hit upwards of 3 MB/s if the torrent has 100+ seeds.

@Touka, I haven't heard of priority queue/client requests what are they? are these user specific or they apply for any torrent you download? if thats the case then i shall seed from now on to get priority downloads Tongue.

The priority queue on KAT is just a queue of external protocol requests (client requests. That's what pops up your torrent client and prompts you to confirm the download) to send.

My average speed when downloading, Is around 800 KB/s.

I find that limiting the upload speed on uTorrent to 6KB/s, significantly Increases my download speed. I also change Ports from time to time, just to try and maximize my usage.

I use dediseedbox.com they use rutorrent and it seeds at a max of 100MB/s
