Major Booting Fuckery - Jolly - 04-20-2015 Recently I've come to a big stand-off with my PC's Windows 7 and as things stand at the moment, it's winning. ![]() During the last three months, I've tried to get rid of the computers old 32-bit system and replace it with the surperior glorious 64-bit Master Race system, mostly to get the new RAM I installed working and kicking. Like any other normal law-abiding citizen, I went to kickass.to and downloaded myself the ISO of the installation disc along with an official version I stumbled upon and burned it successfully. (Setup loaded on 64-bit laptop) Problems arose during the installation though, as whenever I tried to boot the system from the CDROM but after loading the Windows files it would be stuck forever on the ''Starting Windows'' page without loading the flag animation logo or anything. Have tried various different BIOS settings but nothing has worked and I'm really getting desperate here and tempted to howl the whole piece of crap outta the Window... Laughing to my face even more, after some fuck-uppery on my part (I'm an idiot), I've come down to a situation where my bootmgr got compressed and now I can't do shit. FML Should I try booting from a USB stick? Should I try injecting nano pc-ninjas into my tower for some automated harware un-fuckery? Should I shake fists angry at the sky? HELP ME SINISTERLY, YOU'RE MY ONLY HOPE! Looks like your gear is setup for 64 bit which is good. If all fails, just wipe your drive with your old OS and start over. Tried it with an official version and something I found on the torrent site, neither of them worked. Trying to boot from my external hard drive to see if the problem is system-side or hardware-side. RE: Major Booting Fuckery - Losi - 04-21-2015 Is your BIOS up to date? There might be a problem with your mobo if it isn't. Ditto about BIOS, the manufacturers website got pulled down and it redirects to some shady software site now, although it is possible it's outdated since the computer is quite old to be honest, probally ten or more years... What's a mobo? :/ RE: Major Booting Fuckery - Losi - 04-21-2015 (04-21-2015, 07:13 PM)Jolly Wrote: Ditto about BIOS, the manufacturers website got pulled down and it redirects to some shady software site now, although it is possible it's outdated since the computer is quite old to be honest, probally ten or more years... Mobo = motherboard Tbh I'd buy a new board. Sounds shady. Don't really want to buy anything new until I know there is absolutely nothing I can do about it, gotta bet on the external hard drive and hope it works, if not I will have to buy an adapter to connect the hard drive to my laptop and format it there... If those don't work I will probally go to my last resort - replace anything older than 5 years. Although, if you want to dual boot, play around in a different OS, or just fuck around with BIOS and learn a little, now would be your best chance. Reminds me when I was younger.....I picked up an older lappy at a yard sale, and it just didn't seem worth it to try and even turn it on. It was just so much harder than I thought it would be to get it to work. but since this wasn't my main computer, my friend was blabbing on about linux (Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (Hardy Heron) was the new shit at the time) and I had never used linux before, so I installed it (easier said then done) ...a lot of shit in my life would be different if I hadn't made that decision... but yeah, new mobo would prolly do you wonders, good luck! RE: Major Booting Fuckery - Inori - 04-22-2015 Have you tried turning it off and on again? Jk, I'm not that stupid. If you can get a serial key from someone with windows 7, call dell (or whatever company their laptop is from), give them the regestration and request a USB repair stick. Not sure if it's 100% foolproof but it could work. I'm really tempted to load Linux on that shit in plain hopes that it would somehow work out with some unknown to mankind way... |
