Anonymization of TS server? - Lynux - 03-19-2015

Hello All,

I would like to know if everyone would like me to anonymize the TS server I am hosting so that the server does not collect logs of ips, etc, I also know I have posted this in the wrong section ... '_'

Kind Regards,
Lynux

That is not a bad idea. You have my vote for anonymity.

RE: Anonymization of TS server? - Oni - 03-19-2015

Yes. Anonymize it. People from SL will be more likely to use it.

RE: Anonymization of TS server? - Uzinero - 03-19-2015

Yeah, that would be better. As Onionigger said people from herre will be more likely to use it if you do. I'll probably go on it now and then too if you did.

I'm using it either way, but that'd make a lot more people feel like its a possibility.

Admins or any user with the specific permissions flag, can see the IP of any connected user.

Logs are internally made of connected users inside of the .sql database. UID's, IPs, and nicknames, along with server/channel groups.

This is not possible.

is there no way to wipe them after the user has already connected? say like, you use a guest pass to use the computer at the library, it logs that someone used it, but its a guest pass, so no one knows who it was besides whoever gave them the pass?

can't think of how else to make it make sense :'(

Unless you coded a script to drop users from the server sql regularly, then highly unlikely (especially as it's not a running database, just a saved .sql file in the root TS3 server directory.

EDIT: not .sql, .sqlitedb

UPDATE #1:

ts3server.sqlitedb:

client table contents:

Short Python script to truncate the clients table(UNTESTED, I don't code):

EDIT #2: Of course dropping all the client info regularly will mean every user defaults to the default server permissions. Therefore the default server group will require adequate flags for correct usability.

Also, I'm not too sure whether the DB is cached, or how often it's called.

@Equinox mind verifying my shitty Python?

Looks fine. Can't find anything wrong with it.

I've added this to startup and also added a cron job to run every 30 mins on the server with the script above (Thanks @Lux), I will be keeping an eye on the server and ensuring everything runs fine (I work alot so if I'm not on thats why)
