This hacker oriented part of this community is more focused on exploitation and skill-based hacking and looks down up RATing and deems it skiddish.

I don't want to take sides here, but I think you should just ignore posts that you feel mean and just continue over. Although you are a new member, I doubt anyone will trust you yet. I advise you to post more and get to know some of the members.
