German Homework Help - ShawnReynolds - 09-15-2014 Can someone tell me how to write a German sentence in the past tense? I have about five German sentences that I am supposed to be writing in past tense. This is due Tuesday, any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Shawn Reynolds & Vallex Koten RE: German Homework Help - Psycho_Coder - 09-15-2014 Well if you have the english sentence then convert that to past tense and then use Google Translate to convert the Past tense english sentence back to German. hahahaha Dirty trick and may not be very accurate but I suppose @Deque can help since she is German as well
RE: German Homework Help - Deque - 09-15-2014 Hey VallexKoten. Which past tense exactly? There are several. Example: Ich esse mein Butterbrot in der Bahn. --> Present Ich aß mein Butterbrot in der Bahn. --> Simple past Ich habe mein Butterbrot in der Bahn gegessen. --> Present perfect Ich hatte mein Butterbrot in der Bahn gegessen. --> Plusquamperfect Simple past is probably the easiest, you just have to apply the past form for the verb. In this case I chose "essen" on purpose, because it is irregular (ich esse, ich aß, ich habe gegessen, ich hatte gegessen). So what past tense is it and what do you need to know? RE: German Homework Help - ShawnReynolds - 09-15-2014 I am not sure, I did not know there was multiple. My German II teacher just wants me write the sentences in past tense, he did not specify a certain one.
