Nvidia drivers and Display - candiddream - 09-14-2014 Ubuntu 14.04 Nvidia GTX 650 I found a bug with regards to one of the more recent Nvidia drivers (304 in my case) where when you select parts of the GUI (browser, OS gui, ect) that it causes a fluttering in the display like a strobing effect. This article displays the issue I was having http://askubuntu.com/questions/469701/weird-partial-screen-flickering-after-upgrade-to-14-04 Currently I'm upgrading my driver to 340 to see if this resolves the issue. Hope this helps anybody that may experience a similar issue. RE: Nvidia drivers and Display - candiddream - 09-14-2014 UPDATE: I've updated to the most current Nvidia driver (340) which did not resolve the flickering issue. What I've done in addition is as follows: 1. Installed CompizConfig Settings Manager 2. Went to 'Utility->Workaround' 3. Enabled 'Force synchronization between X and GLX' 4. Enabled 'Force full screen redraws (buffer swap) on repaint' So far so good with not getting any flickering. Further testing will be needed but I'm feeling hopeful. EDIT: obtained this information from https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1314367 RE: Nvidia drivers and Display - L0aD1nG - 09-14-2014 I don't really know what Cannonical is doing with their GUI things of installing Nvidia Drivers, but if you decide to do it properrly from terminal you should really take a look on this link https://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers#Version_304.117 . I hope this helped out. |
