For the newbies - Inori - 08-22-2014

I can't put this in intros because it doesn't apply but to anyone new, you should be reading.

Roughly 8 months ago, right after Christmas, I found HC via google and was instantly attached.
For a while, at the bottom of the pecking order, I was shy.
I looked up to the staff, the ace members, and all the active users that seemed to fit in.
I aspired to be like them.

about 2 months after I registered, I finally started to apply what I learned to tutorials and help others with issues I could fix.
I started opening up to the staff more, gaining friends I'll probably never meet IRL.

Then there was @"Maxx"

When we started chatting over IRC, we were both HC Lite and I started helping hi around.
Today, he is, without a doubt, one of the funniest, most involved members on the forums.

Looking back to my goal as a noob, to be the one people look up to, to be the helper and the mentor, I think I've achieved that.

This all goes to show, even if you've registered 5 minutes ago, you can still be highly influential, even to people older than you, just by being active and dedicated.

To all the newbies, welcome to the best forums ever.
Enjoy your stay and stick around!

RE: For the newbies - Spirit - 08-22-2014

I'm glad that you're loving your experience here on HackCommunity, @"[blank]"!
I find it funny how you say "gaining friends I'll probably never meet IRL" because I actually visit Toronto quite often and I've been thinking about seeing if I could meet you for a few months now. It wont be too weird, we don't have too large of an age gap. So, that's always an option if you're interested.

Speaking of looking up to people, I just want to do a quick shout-out for @chmod. I've looked up to him ever since I joined HC. He doesn't really see why I look up to him and see him as a role-model, but I do for reasons that I don't feel like listing.

I hope you stick around HC for a long while with us; your friends who wont judge you for anything but your personality.

To this day I still don't feel like I should be a role model to anyone, but at the same I'm glad I inspire people like you to be who they are and hopefully help them grow.

I guess what I'm trying to say is thanks for having confidence in me and I hope I can continue inspire others new or otherwise to put the time and effort in that you have.

I both look up to and understand that @404# is my spirit animal.

After almost 3 months of lurking around, I hope to become active Biggrin

There isn't much some people like me can do but lurk though, as being rather inexperienced we lack the capability to provide constructive feedback to others' posts and may feel embarrassed to post 'inferior' programs for feedback. Of course, I should be more confident of myself though .-.
