2.) Type in Username
3.) Hit give Followers
4.) Enjoy the Followers!

This is totally wrong. I tried it and only got 37. Why say 500?

It says quotation mark 500 quotation mark. "500" so you need to take it with a grain of salt. And it probably takes time also
