NASA server. - slipkid08 - 03-28-2014 Hello all, Not sure where to put this, but if you are a mod reading this, feel free to move it around as you see fit. If you are CLI friendly, there's a way into NASA servers, legally. You can view orbital data, geographical data, satellite data, planet data, etc. In this form: ******************************************************************************* Close-approach / PORT_LOGIN Fri Mar 28 14:33:20 2014Pasadena, USA / Horizons ******************************************************************************* Object name : 2 Pallas {source: JPL#26-DASTCOM} Start time : A.D. 1999-Dec-01 00:00:00.0 CT Stop time : A.D. 2014-Jan-04 00:00:00.0 CT Planetary model : DE-0431LE-0431 Small body model: SB431-BIG16 Small-body perts: Yes {source: SB431-BIG16} Cut-off, TCA3Sg : 14400 minutes Cut-off, planets: .1, .1, .1, .1, 1., 1., 1., 1., .1, .003 (au) Cut-off,asteroid: .25 au Units conversion: 1 au= 149597870.700 km, c= 299792.458 km/s, 1 day= 86400.0 s ******************************************************************************* Initial FK5/J2000.0 heliocentric ecliptic osculating elements (au, days, deg.): EPOCH= 2451544.5 ! 2000-Jan-01.00 (CT) Residual RMS= .3307 EC= .2296435467785517 QR= 2.135676599174508 TP= 2451577.9696413181 OM= 173.1978000358533 W= 310.2655685017972 IN= 34.846137876302 Asteroid physical parameters (km, seconds, rotational period in hours): GM= 14.3 RAD= 272.5 ROTPER= 7.8132 H= 4.13 G= .110 B-V= .635 ALBEDO= .1587 STYP= B Orbit solution square-root covariance at EPOCH: SRC= 5.755897891135984D-10 -1.871729229924672E-8 5.175958980353387E-8 -4.752671176141789E-9 1.380115086185201E-8 7.559896660854752E-6 -6.331157058979671D-10 1.477685798323879E-9 1.119382968045521E-5 5.377516654119324E-8 -4.901671600574998D-11 1.763885614218321D-10 1.680298965122595E-5 -3.671022526758055E-8 9.696561134460483E-8 -3.124113487687038D-11 3.291666970778623D-11 -2.136282203102847E-7 -2.642685360380338E-9 1.284569392206914E-9 3.726661382097349E-8 **************************************************************************************** Close-approach results: No close-approaches detected (within specified time and distance limits). **************************************************************************************** You can connect directly through Telnet at: telnet ssd.jpl.nasa.org 6775 RE: NASA server. - gh05t3d - 03-29-2014 personally i stay away from anything related to gov sites. Well, very luckily for you, this is 100% legal. Not an illegal thing about it. NASA made this information public on purpose. That way the whole world can view it and maybe break down the data, or catch something NASA didn't or whatever. It's not illegal in the slightest. Don't be so paranoid, my friend. I quite like this if only because it brings back memories of telnet which is all but dead these days. Indeed - Someone trashed this thread. The modlog didnt say who so I rescued it. No reason this doesnt belong on the forums. Not exactly on topic... but you should check out www.telehack.com for some telnet goodies. You can watch a Starwars film entirely in ASCII art LOL. also offers quite a few utilities and random programs RE: NASA server. - chmod - 03-30-2014 (03-30-2014, 01:15 AM)Geoff Wrote:(03-30-2014, 12:46 AM)chmod Wrote: No not useless, it's a recourse if your interested in that sort of thing it's actually quite useful. I'll check it out, I've seen the star wars one before although not all the way through RE: NASA server. - slipkid08 - 03-31-2014 Yeah, I love Telehack. The author originally created it to teach his son the CLI hacking techniques of old. He pretty much made an almost carbon copy of the old DARPANET, sans a few small details here and there. Pretty cool if you ask me. On the subject of this thread, I believe this NASA telnet could be a very useful tool for someone of knowledge. I didn't post it for it to be hacked. Rather, I posted it in case someone found it interesting, as I do. I am not really sure what to do with the data, because I don't understand some of the terminology, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun to browse through and just kind of view the data from SPACE. Data from beyond our world. THAT is why I posted it. I figured there may be another person out there like me that enjoys reading raw data. I think that this thread holds ground on this forum, because most of us are fans of the command prompt. I'm sorry if some think that it's useless just because they can't hack it. MODS: Sorry for the rant. If you would like to remove the thread because you think it's useless, that's your right as a mod, but I think it's okay, personally. Didn't mean to start a flame war. RE: NASA server. - Riverclawz - 03-31-2014 That stuff is epic, i've got a friend in physics who would like to see things like this, and for me ty for seding me telehack.com/ didn't know it ;D |
