From my knowledge Java (for web based applications) and C++ are the standard for most careers. You would be best to learn one or both of those to land a position where you can work on 'big well funded projects'. If you know java, HTML, PHP, and how to use word and excell you've got a job anywhere. Try learning networking and how to setup and manage servers then you can do heavy server side work. Just note that when you become a programmer as a career you will spend most of your time reading, fixing and reading more code (other programmers code) and less time writing it. A programmer can write a functional program in as little as a day, the rest of the time.. weeks, months, years are spent improving it, reading over, fixing it, changing it even deleting thousands of lines just to write it over again, because he found a better way to do it. I've watched a lot of videos and done reading made by programmers, programming becomes you. It is your life, you spend countless hours on your code, sometimes don't leave your computer for over a day at a time. You have to love programming that much, or you won't be happy. Not to discourage you, but that's what you would be in for. |
