GIMP - Yung Lean - 12-09-2013
can a nice website templates be made with GIMP ?
I have tested GIMP and I didn't found some features like in Photoshop
Blending options and something like that.

I suspect that this is a catch 22 question.
A good website designer who uses Gimp will say yes. Who else would know for sure? Can someone who doesnt use Gimp really comment on its capabilities? lol
Ive been trying some web designing the last 2 days. Im a coder not an artist so this is not easy for me lol. But ive been using Gimp. You can see my progression with Gimp here:

Apparently I have issues with colours. According to everyone else i pick horrible colours. Perhaps im colourblind? LOL

@Geoff those are quite good web layouts/designs for a beginner (y)
btw even if i'm doing web design for more than a year now , i am still bad at picking colors as well. Me as a newbie at designing I sometimes get really pissed when I can't pick correct colors

Thanks. I am decent with HTML/CSS/PHP/SQL but im a coder more than a designer. People keep telling me my website designs look outdated/90's ish

So I thought id improve. I figured i was being limited to that look by limiting myself to HTML/CSS and decided to learn some graphic editing
/4 was my very first attempt... looking up how to do little tricks. /5 I tried to refine some things and a couple new tricks. /6 was my attempt at doing a full design - But then i was told the colours sucked so im rethinking what ill do lol.
But ya, thats the culmination of 3 days... 1 design per day so far. But you have no idea how bad i am with colours. Ive tried literally dozens of colour combinations the last few days and I have yet to be given the go ahead that ive used them well haha.

@Geoff you should try this https://code.google.com/p/gpick/ its a good software that helps to chose colors and also test them on layout so you can match colors, also what most of the designers have told me is to learn color meanings and then try to match them
