shock's HTML guide 1 [Basic HTML] - shock - 09-20-2013 Hello HC! This will be my first tutorial I am writing, so please give some suggestions in the comments. I am writing this tutorial because the Web Dev section sort of lacks essential guides, and because I have a 7 hour car ride ahead of me. Enjoy! ![]() First, some brief history on HTML: In the 80′s and very early 90′s, getting information stored on computers was usually a big pain, it was so hard that Ph.D physicists were annoyed while trying to share data. One of them who is now knighted, and very famous, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, decided to make an easy way to cross-reference text, with hypertext links. Around 1993, about 100 computers in the whole world were made to host and view HTML pages, and those interlinked pages were called the ‘World Wide Web’. From then on, web browser software has been made, and new languages of coding have been written. Enough of the history, let’s get to coding: Let’s start with some basic lines and parts of HTML code. Here is a very basic ‘hello world’ page: Code: <html>
<head>
<title>A basic hello world HTML Page.</title>
</head>
<body>
<h1>Hello World!</h1>
</body>
</html>Now to explain what that all means, the html tag shows what language the webpage is written in, it is IMPORTANT to put this in to your webpage, as your browser what technically not know what language it is written in until you put that there. The head tag is where you will usually put stuff about the page, like for example the meta tags, the stylesheet and the title. The body tag shows where the main text of the page is going to be shown, and is mostly where the content is placed. The h1 tag is for Header one, header tags go from 1-6, and have got different sizes and styles. It is mainly used for titles of stories, guides, important stuff, etc.. The /head, /body, /title, and /html tags are all used to end the tags. I hope you enjoy the tutorial! I will have many more to come. Check out my blog for some other guides.
RE: shock's HTML guide 1 [Basic HTML] - Slarek - 09-20-2013 This is very basic. I think it would have been better if you hadn't used this much colors. There's also few things missing eg. !doctype. RE: shock's HTML guide 1 [Basic HTML] - shock - 09-20-2013 Thanks for that, will remember it for my next tutorials, I just tried to keep this one very basic, next one will have all the html ags and css
RE: shock's HTML guide 1 [Basic HTML] - Coder-san - 09-20-2013 (09-18-2013, 05:10 PM)shock Wrote: Aaahm, good tutorial, missing some important stuff, but you're gonna have to write 50 tutorials if you want to cover HTML and a bit of stylesheets at this speed. @shock: This is what you posted in the other HTML tutorial. The only thing your tutorial has more is some text and use of H1 tag in the body. Do we really need more of these HTML basics tutorials? RE: shock's HTML guide 1 [Basic HTML] - shock - 09-21-2013 Yes, I started mine from scratch, gonna have a second one and a first, plus mine covered more stuff. RE: shock's HTML guide 1 [Basic HTML] - The Real Slim Shady - 09-21-2013 oh the irony... at this rate it'll take you 50 tutorials to cover most of HTML and a bit of CSS. That said im with Coder-san. These kind of tutorials are like beating a dead horse. no use to any one. This level of work has likely been posted on the web 50 billion times in the last 2 decades. RE: shock's HTML guide 1 [Basic HTML] - DangerousHacker - 01-25-2014 This is very basic, it would of been more interesting if you went more in depth. RE: shock's HTML guide 1 [Basic HTML] - BeeMuzza - 02-01-2014 You should be doing some more difficult stuff or unique tuts, these are found almost every community/coding site. |
