Installing a Virtual Machine inside a hidden virtual TrueCrypt volume - RogueCoder - 06-18-2013 Today I'm going to explain how to install a Virtual Machine inside a hidden virtual TrueCrypt volume. If you are new to TrueCrypt and you haven't read my tutorial on how to create this type of TrueCrypt volume I suggest you do that first. Requirements What is a Virtual Machine? Virtual machines may be based on specifications of a hypothetical computer or emulate the computer architecture and functions of a real world computer.Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_machine Step 1: Open VirtualBox Spoiler:![]() Step 2: Modify VirtualBox settings Spoiler:![]() Go to File > Settings and set "Default Machine Folder" to your hidden TrueCrypt volume and click OK Step 3: Create the virtual machine Spoiler:![]() Click NEW in the VirtualBox toolbar and follow the steps Step 4: Machine memory Spoiler:![]() Set how much memory you will dedicate to the virtual machine. Keep in mind that the amount of memory you set will be dedicated to the guest machine and will not be available to the host while the guest machine is running. Step 5: Virtual Hard Disk Spoiler:![]() Make sure that "Create a new hardisk" is selected. Step 6: Virtual disk file type Spoiler:![]() Leave / set this to should be VDI (Virtual Disk Image) Step 7: Disk size behaviour Spoiler:![]() A virtual disk image can be either fixed size or dynamically allocated.
Step 7: VDI Path & Size Spoiler:![]() Make sure that the VDI is saved in your hidden TrueCrypt folder and set the virtual disk size you want. This cannot be higher than the size of the hidden TrueCrypt volume Step 8: Complete the setup Spoiler:![]() ![]() ![]() The final steps now are just confirmations on that the VDI and Virtual Machine has been created successfully.
