Firefox... - ArkPhaze - 05-22-2013

I love Firefox, but when will they get their memory leaks fixed?!

I don't use FireFox because of that freaking problem, You can try Chrome or IE 10

RE: Firefox... - ArkPhaze - 05-22-2013

Granted, I do have quite a few tabs open, and I have had this program open for about 2 days... But for me there's no option. The addons in Firefox are much better than the ones in Chrome, or Opera, and IE heavily lacks customization.

What I like in chrome is the tabs and multiple processes idea, because one tab freezing doesn't crash the whole program, and also the ability to drag and drop the url to explorer to save a shortcut link. Smile

Too bad there isn't a browser with all of the good that exists between IE, Firefox, and Chrome.

I do not have this problem with any installation I have on my own workstation (Kubuntu 12.04LTS), my wife's laptop (PinguyOS 12.04LTS), or my son's laptop (OpenSuse 12.3).
I suspect it may be M[ostly]S[hitty]'s definition of what qualifies as an operating system versus something actually being wrong with Firefox.Confusedmoke:

Actually, it could be the code associated with the compiled binary for the OS too. How many tabs do you keep open in Firefox though and how long do you have the program itself running?

There's some memory leak diagnostic utilities around on my PC as well... I should see if I can find out where or why they happen.

That's exactly why I would do a Fault Trace first to know exactly where in Firefox it is allegedly stemming from.
Regarding my use of Firefox, usually 13 to 21 tabs open for several days on end without any increase in memory usage other than what it to be expected with so many tabs open.
And never to date at least does the memory usage climb as is the tell tale signs of a leak somewhere.

I love Chrome for the same reasons. Different processes and bookmarks handling, but mainly tabs commands like duplicate tab and the possibility to open a new tab next to the one you want instead of as last, or also the separation between common browsing and incognito browsing. Though, the add-ons on Firefox are awesome, that's true. Firefox is also the most customizable one. I can't instead find any good point in using IE.

Exactly the reason companies thankfully came out with superior alternatives to M[onkey]S[hit]'s I[mpending]E[xplosion] disaster.Biggrin

I love your different-for-every-post acronym for MS.
