How to scan/remove malware - LightX - 12-22-2012 Introduction: Hey guys, I will be giving a tutorial on how to scan for malware and delete it. There are a couple things that I have to tell you before you start doing this. Most hackers who try to infect you will be super nice. I'm not saying that all nice people are trying to infect you, but if they know what they are doing, they will find ways to manipulate your mind to get to trust them. If you are just trying to remove a virus, SKIP TO STEP 3. Step 1: The first thing that you should do is scan ANY file you download from the internet. This is your very first line of security. What you will need to do in order to do this is go to this website: https://www.virustotal.com/. All you do from this is either choose your file location, or drag the file into the text box. Any skid trying to infect you will most likely not have crypted the file which means that the file would turn out looking like this in the scan. Spoiler:![]() Spoiler:![]() Step 2: You should download this program called sandboxie. What this does is isolates the program that you run it in. A download link for this can be found here: http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?DownloadSandboxie Once you have downloaded and installed this, you will run the program in it. You will do this by right clicking on the program that you are suspicious of, then click: Run Sandboxed. This will then obviously run it sandboxed. If an error message comes up something having to do with your computer cannot open it or anything not having to do with sandboxie, it is most likely a virus in which case delete the program as soon as possible. If the program is running as it claims it will, that also does not mean that this is not infected, it could also be backdoored. From here on is if you opened the virus or are trying to get rid of an existing virus. Step 3: Okay, so from here, you know that you already have a virus or want to check if you have any. This is where it gets a little more complicated than the previous steps although it is still very simple. What you will need to do from here is download a few things and find a simple tool thats already on your computer. I will list these with a download link below:
Once you have downloaded all of these, just install them. I can assure you that all of these files are clean as I am currently using them. Step 4: Shut down your computer and run it in safe mode. This will keep the virus(es) from spreading more than they already have. Once you have your computer running in safe mode, you need to run the Disk Cleanup by going to this: Spoiler:Code: Start menu>All Programs> Accessories>System Tools>Disk CleanupYou will have to let this run for some time. After this is done, all you will have to do is restart your computer and boot into your regular OS. I would recommend scanning your computer every week or two with at least Malwarebytes. Also note: THERE IS NO WAY TO 100% DETECT AND DELETE ALL VIRUSES. There are so many different viruses that there is no way to find every single one and get rid of it. I hope this helped you out. If it did, feel free to say thanks! RE: How to scan/remove malware - H4R0015K - 12-22-2012 Great job mate..
